Christmas Break

We hope you all enjoyed your time off from school.  Our teachers certainly did, but we missed our students.  Here is a peek at what each teacher did over the holidays.

Mrs. Walker:  I spent lots of time with family.  Sarah came home from college.  It was nice having her here for a while.  Son Daniel went shopping with me.  He drove to the store and helped carry bags into the house when we got home.  Deborah and son-in-law Daniel helped a lot with cooking.  We had lots of company to feed.  Eli was off work Christmas Day, so she could spend the day with family.  I love it when all of my kids are together.  We even got to spend time with Granddaughter Emma.  That's always fun.

Ms. Bishop: Over Christmas break I spent lots of time with my family and friends. My best friend Michelle has a new little baby that I spent time with and I got to give Ryleigh her first Christmas present ever. She really loved her pink and yellow Passy's I gave her! Chris and I also spent time planning our wedding for next year, we got a lot done. We know have a venue, photographer, DJ, and my dress! Now I just want December 10th to hurry up and get here. :) The best part of the break was being able to spend time with my family at home and just relax. I hope every had a wonderful break as I did.

Mrs. McLaughlin: Over the Christmas break my house was FULL of people.  My oldest daughter, Devin, was home from college.  Mr. McLaughlin’s parents came to visit us from California.  We did a lot of Wii bowling, played cards, and took a trip to New Braunfels, Texas.  We cooked and ate plenty of delicious food.  Being together with family is my favorite part of the holidays.

Miss Smith: I had a wonderful break! My fiance Evan and I drove all over the state since his family lives in east Texas and my family lives in south Texas. It was so great to get to spend time with family. Of course my two dogs were along for the ride! Evan's parents have 5 dogs and my parents have 4 so Nolan and Dos were very happy to see all their friends! I hope everyone had a great break and I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2011!

Mrs. White: Over the break I got to spend A LOT of time with Vivian and Mr. White. Since both of our families live in Dallas we got to visit with all of them, it was fun speaking Spanish at my parents house and switching to English with his family. But my favorite part  was when Santa came to our house! Vivian got to hear Santa stomping on our roof and the reindeer's jingle bells. She was sooooooo excited but also reminded me that if we didn't go back to sleep Santa wouldn't leave presents for her. I had a GREAT vacation. What did you do?

Tuve unas excelentes vacaciones. ¿Tu qué hiciste?

Gingerbread Stories

Here are some of our gingerbread stories.  We are becoming great authors.

By: Sydney
On a cold night at a little ski lodge house there lived a gingerbread girl named Sally with her mom, aunt, her brothers, Joe and Jim, her sister Katie, and her cousin Kate.  It was 2 days away from Christmas.  Kate wanted a teddy bear.  Katie wanted a stuffed cat.  Jim wanted a toy Power Ranger, and so did Joe.  Sally wanted a kitten.  Sally, Katie, and Kate started to play with Sally’s dolls and pet shops.  The next day was Christmas Eve.  “Tomorrow’s Christmas Day!” yelled Sally, Katie, and the others.  They built a snowman in the backyard.  Sally gave him her scarf and hat.  “Bed time!” yelled Sally’s mom.  “We haven’t added the nose yet.”  “OK,” said mom.  They put on the nose and went to bed.  “Today is Christmas!” yelled the girls as they ran down the stairs the next morning.  They yelled at the boys and moms.  They started to open their presents.  We got our wishes everyone yelled, everyone except Sally.  “Where’s my kitten?” asked Sally looking through her presents.  “It’s OK,” said her aunt and mom.  “Let’s buy you a kitten,” said her mom.  They went to PetSmart to buy Sally a kitten.  “I want a gingerbread kitten,” said Sally, “like Katie’s stuffed cat.”  “There’s one,” yelled Sally.  She took it out of the cage.  “What do you want to name it?” asked Joe.  “Annie!” yelled Sally.  “Great name,” said Katie.  “What do you want to name your stuffed cat?” asked Sally.  “Tia!” yelled Katie.  “Let’s have a Christmas dinner,” said Kate.  And they did.  “This was the best Christmas ever,” said Sally.  The Happy Ending

Gingerella
Once upon a time there was a very small gingerbread cottage in the woods.  In that cottage lived a gingerbread girl named Gingerella, her two stepsisters, and stepmother.  They were very poor and they made Gingerella do all the work.  One day the mailman came to their house and gave them an invitation to a ball.  “This is going to be so fun,” said Gingerella.  “You aren’t going to the ball,” said the stepmother.  “You have a lot of work to do.”  “We are going to the ball, not you,” said the stepmother.  They got ready for the ball and they went.  When Gingerella heard the door she poured with tears.  Suddenly, something strange happened.  Her fairy godmother came and gave her three wishes.  Gingerella still could not believe her eyes.  “Three wishes?” said Gingerella.  “Yes,” said the fairy godmother.  “I wish I could have pretty clothes for the ball.”  It happened.  “I also wish I had a carriage to ride in.”  It happened.  “And for my last wish, I want someone to drive my carriage.”  It happened.  She was on her way to the ball.  Then she was there.  That’s how she met the prince.  They danced till it was midnight.  Gingerella ran up the stairs and one of her shoes fell off.  He gave it to her and they lived happily ever after.

In the North Pole, Santa Claus cooked a gingerbread boy with dough and one cup of flour.  Out the of the oven popped the gingerbread boy!  Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus tried to catch the gingerbread boy, but it was too fast.  Then the Gingerbread boy met Rudolph.  Rudolph tried to get the gingerbread boy, but it was too fast.  The gingerbread boy said, “Run, run, as fast as you can.  You can’t catch me.  I’m the gingerbread boy.”  And off he ran.  Then he met a snow rabbit.  The snow rabbit smelled a gingerbread boy.  The show rabbit jumped to the gingerbread boy, but the show rabbit was too late to catch the gingerbread boy.   The gingerbread boy said, “Run, run, as fast as you can.  You can’t catch me.  I’m the gingerbread boy.”  And off he ran.  Then he met the elves.  The elves loved gingerbread snacks.  Then the elves smelled something.  It was the gingerbread boy!  The elves tried to get the gingerbread boy, too.  But the gingerbread boy was too fast.  He said, “Run, run, as fast as you can.  You can’t catch me.  I’m the gingerbread boy.”  And off he ran.  Next, he met the wolf.  The wolf was so surprised that he smelled a good smell.  It was the gingerbread boy!  The gingerbread boy said, “”Run, run, as fast as you can.  You can’t catch me.  I’m the gingerbread boy.”  But the wolf said, “There’s a pond down the snow.”  So the gingerbread boy went.  The wolf said I could help you go across the pond.”  So first the gingerbread boy got on his back and second he got on his head.  Then the wolf ate the gingerbread boy and it was all gone.

Once upon a time there was a gingerbread boy named Max.  The other people were some crazy looking animals that talked a lot and some mean people.  The people and the gingerbread boy were outside on a snowy day.  The gingerbread boy wanted to go across the river.  But if he did, he would drown in the water.  So he went to the boat store and bought a good boat that cost less money.  When Max got on the boat he was stuck in the back of his seat.  He was so mad.  He started to tap and tap.  Then black shoes appeared on his feet and the tapping started becoming louder and louder.  Max was doing so good that a black hat magically came on his head.  Then he started shaking his head.  He was doing fantastic!  So a black cane fell out of the sky and it landed in Max’s hand.  Then he started to shake his cookies and jumped up and down!  Max was doing a marvelous job.  He forgot to get off his boat.  He didn’t remember that it was supposed to be cold that day and the wind blew him to another city.  That city was full of bad things, bad people, and some crazy animals.  The animals loved to eat cookies and they said their favorite kind of cookies were gingerbread cookies.   They also said that the best gingerbread cookies were tap dancing gingerbread boys named Max.  So he went into a stinky restroom and changed into some ugly clothes and shoes.  But he wanted to keep the hat so bad.  If he did his head would shake the whole time.  When he was done changing his clothes, he went out and saw the crazy looking animals.  They were sniffing the whole town until they found Max.  Max started sweating because he was scared.  The crazy looking animals took Max in their secret room and sniffed Max all over his body.  They smelled cookie dough and marshmallows.  They bit his hands, his legs, and then they ate him all up.  Max did not survive, so he didn’t live happily ever after.

Turkey Stories

The Turkey Trying to Escape
By Alejandra

Once there was a turkey and farmer.  The turkey heard the farmer say that he is going to cook the turkey.  So the next day the turkey was going to escape.  So the turkey did.  The farmer came outside and the turkey was not there.  The turkey did not know where he was, but the turkey was at the forest.  Then he found an airplane.  He hopped on the airplane. Then he found a button.  The turkey did not know what it was for, so he pushed it.  Then the airplane went in the air.  Then it went down and the turkey landed on a house.  He saw the farmer in his truck trying to find the turkey.  Be could not find him so he left.

Turkey’s Escape
By Andrew

“Help me!” a turkey screamed.  A farmer said, “Hey! Come back here, you!”  Then the turkey stopped running and had a plan.  He quickly ran to the hay of the farm.  Then he took out a cup.  He put water in the cup but it wasn’t just any kind of water.  It was magic water!  Then the farmer found him! (The water turns humans, objects, and animals into...COWS!)  He spilled the water on the farmer.  Then, In 3 seconds, the farmer was a cow.  Then the turkey ran away!  He was thinking of a place to go to the desert:  to hot for him, Forest: too many wild animals, Zoo: did not want to be in prison.  He did that, but he couldn’t find one (The nearest was 77 miles).  He would never make it unless he had a very, very, very fast car (or a motorcycle). He saw a motorcycle driver driving a motorcycle.  The turkey hid behind an Acacia tree.  He saw it.  It could go 107 miles per hour.  When the motorcycle driver took a break, the turkey jumped onto the motorcycle without permission and drove it out the gate.  He also took the helmet.  (76 miles later), he bumped a rock and broke the motorcycle.  And the turkey got hit to the ground.  Sadly it was now 1 more mile away.  He was too sleepy to go that far.  He got up but then fell back down and snored.  This time he got back up and ran faster than the speed of light!  He bumped into something.  It was prison.  He ran inside and got in a cage.  But it was a cage with an arrested farmer.  “Help me again!” screamed the turkey.  The farmer yelled, “Hey! I’m gonna get you!  Hey! Come back!” and then he was in a cage as food.  Then he realized it was all a dream.  But then a girl named Sally saw the turkey and said, “Hey, mommy! Can we buy this turkey?  Please!”  “Okay, Yes.  And plus, it’s only 1 dollar.  But why?”  “Because it’s the color of a rainbow.  And I love rainbows.”  “NO!!!” screamed the turkey.  This must be a nightmare.  But…it wasn’t.  But he got out.  Then somehow he got transported back in.  And the turkey said, “I give up.”

Run Away
By Corey

Once there was a turkey that lived on a farm and a farmer wanted to kill the turkey.  But the farmer couldn’t find him.  He looked everywhere for him.  He was behind him.  He looked back.   The turkey layed the farmer couldn’t see him.  So he ran to find a new home.  He went from Spain to Dallas.  The farmer kept looking.  The farmer found the turkey.  The turkey ran as fast as he could.  The turkey tripped.  He couldn’t get back up so he tried as hard as he could.  He got up.  He went back to Spain.  So the farmer couldn’t find him.  Then the farmer went back to Spain and found him.  The turkey punched and kicked.  The farmer never came back again.

The Turkey’s Get Away
By Eric

If I was a turkey and a farmer tried to catch me I would hide in his car.  Then when he comes in his car I would bite him in his hand and then I would jump out of his car and run away.  Then when I got to the city I would go into somebody’s house and eat their food and drink all their juice.  I would get out of their house and live in the forest where the farmer can’t get me.

Farmer Alert
By JaCorey

If I was a turkey and a farmer wanted to catch me I would bite him and run away.  I would go ride in a limo.  If he was still looking for me I would live in a dumpster so he could not find me.

If I Was a Turkey
By Lizzy

I am a turkey and a farmer is getting me.  So I got on a bus and ran away.  The farmer followed me.  I went to Hawaiian Falls.  The farmer went to Hawaiian Falls so then I went to Space.  Then I flew on a pool.  I said, “That was awesome!”  The farmer found me.  I was running for my life.  The farmer fell in the mud.  I got away!
